Garou: Mark of the Wolves Receives Rollback Patch From Code Mystics

Today has given us an unexpected surprise. It would seem that the people at Code Mystics have been hard at work giving the port of Garou: Mark of the Wolves rollback netcode. Now, in case you aren’t privy to what’s going on and why this is important, in the last few months there has been a call for fighting game developers to add rollback netcode to their games. This call only grew stronger when GGPO (Good Game Peace Out) went free for anyone to use, eliminating one of the common reasons used by developers: cost. The next common reason was that it would be too difficult or impossible to add that kind of netcode retroactively. Well, Code Mystics just did.

There isn’t much in the way of info about how long it took to make this happen, but the community response has been great and supportive. They’ve even begun to ask SNK to let Code Mystics put the netcode in other releases such as KOF 97, KOF 2000 Ultimate Match, and in the upcoming KOF 15. What this could mean for he future is uncertain, but for now those who play Garou on PS4, Steam, and Vita can now play using rollback netcode. The only unfortunate part? No crossplay. Still, this will hopefully get people to see what is so special about rollback and entice people to buy this game. Only time will tell, but let us know what you think about this in the comments.
