Fan Translation Project Geofront Partners with NIS America & Nihon Falcom

Nihon Falcom hosted a concert on the NewGamesPlusExpo channel for their western fans of their games. More importantly, they announced that there would be a special reveal too during the concert. Before the concert could even take place, Epic Games Store leaked the information a day early that a slew of Falcom games would be getting localized in 2022 and 2023. This was definitely a shitty way to sabotage the excitement of such a huge announcement. Personally, I think they got overzealous about getting more developers get on the EGS bandwagon. Falcom is a small company so they benefit from going with Epic since they take a smaller percentage than Steam. During the actual concert it was confirmed that The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, Trails into Reverie and Nayuta: Boundless Trails would be localized by NIS America and available on PC, Nintendo Switch and PS4.

This will definitely mean that Kuro No Kiseki will be delayed until 2024 at the earliest. But I think it was definitely important to get the Crossbell Arc localized. And having it on the Switch was a smart move. Aside from all that great news, the Geofront fan translation team announced that their translation would be act as the basis of both Trails From Zero and Trails to Azure. This partnership is amazing and a dream come true for any fan project. Instead of sending them a C&D, just pay them for their translation. (Unfortunately, this means their fan-translation is no longer available on their site.) I hope this sets a precedent in the future. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailers below. We have about another year until Trails from Zero is released in the west. The waiting game begins…
