At the Tokyo Game Show 2024, The Starbites unveiled a vibrant new trailer that showcased its unique cartoony cel-shaded aesthetic, featuring bright colors and an anime-inspired design. Developed in South Korea, the visuals set a captivating tone for players venturing into the struggles of Rukida, the main character, on the war-torn desert planet known as Bitter.
In this game, players will navigate Delight City—a sinking tower city where its inhabitants trade materials and information to survive. Rukida’s journey unfolds as she encounters a quirky cast of misfit partners, banding together to confront a significant incident affecting their lives. The combat system has been highlighted as flashy and dynamic, allowing players to engage in thrilling turn-based battles while riding their customizable Meka.
Exploration promises to be engaging, with distinct zones that house hidden areas and special NPCs. While the game does not offer a fully open-world experience, it encourages players to uncover secrets and interact with the diverse characters inhabiting Bitter. Though the trailer hints at darker themes associated with survival in a lawless setting, it refrains from revealing too much about the tone, leaving players intrigued about the storyline.
With improved polish since its initial reveal last year, Star Bites is shaping up to be an exciting title to watch, although fans will have to wait until 2024 for its release.
