The Game Awards 2019 Nominees Revealed

The Game Awards have released their list of nominees for this year’s best video games. Some obvious choices include Death Stranding, Sekiro and The Outer Worlds for the biggest awards of the night including Best Narrative, Game of the Year and Best Performance (Voice Acting). An unexpected entry Control from Remedy/505 Studios nabbed six awards including GOTY. My personal favorite Sayonara Wild Hearts managed to get several award nominations including Best Score and Best Art Direction but was iced out from the Best Independent Game category. Sadly it was also snubbed in the Fresh Indie Game category as well.

Despite it’s shaky launch and pricey DLC packs, Dead or Alive 6 managed to snag a Best Fighting Game nomination. Unfortunately the criminally underrated and overlooked Power Rangers Battle For the Grid was snubbed in favor of the ghastly and unpolished Jump Force. The RPG category is even more of a joke to be honest. I won’t even delve into that.

The eSports category is unsurprisingly lacking from the Fighting Game Community. There isn’t a single category that features a player, commentator or content creator from the FGC. Its a bit telling to say the least that the FGC is completely overlooked in the eSports realm. I’m surprised that not even mighty Super Smash Bros wasn’t represented at all in the eSports categories. However, the show must go on. You can vote on the official website or if you’re lazy like me, you can vote on Google.

Check out the nominees below. The Game Awards 2019 will air and stream on December 12, 2019. Check your local listings.
