It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Mix-Up (formerly call the Cross Up). There’s been a tidal wave of new music coming every single week. I decided to curate a weekly playlist of the best and most interesting songs from Pop, Dance & R&B. Below are some of the highlights:
Tom Aspaul – WM (Remix EP)
Tom just released the remix EP to his delicious discotheque anthem W.M. but the original is flawless and perfect. It’s very Saturday Night Fever if it came out in 2020.
Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande – Rain On Me (CHROMATICA)
This collaboration came out of left field, but it somehow works really well. It sounds like a track from a Ministry of Sound compilation from 2002. Ariana sounds incredible on this Eurodance track and complements Gaga’s gritty texture.
Dagny – Coulda Woulda Shoulda
An infectious pop tune with Dagny’s dreamy vocal arrangements.
Foxes – Love Not Loving You
The 80s aesthetic is really sinking into pop music and that excites me. Foxes dives into Minneapolis Funk with reckless abandonment. The percussions and bass line add to the retro flair.
Vincint – Be Me (Queer Eye Season 5 Theme)
Vincint delivers an 80s Power Pop ballad about embracing one’s self. It’s a great marriage. And Vincint has incredible vocals. His vocal range is phenomenal.
You can see the entire playlist below for this week and the previous weeks:
