It seems that Sony saw the money Nintendo raked in with their NES and SNES Classics and decided to jump on the emulation bandwagon. And so, the PlayStation Classic is here; well will be in December. While we don’t have a full list of games yet, we DO know that we’ll be getting Tekken 3, Wild Arms, and of course Final Fantasy 7 along with a couple others. We also know it’ll launch with 20 games preinstalled. Whether or not they’ll offer the opportunity to add more has yet to be seen.
Now, the price. It’ll retail for $99, a detail they so quickly mentioned that no one would blame you if you missed it. Not sure why that is, but I suppose they figured asking that kind of money for a emulation machine would be a little steep. I’m inclined to think that. Sure, you get the small form factor of the Playstation, but at the end of the day its an emulation machine. I suppose not knowing the game list also contributes to my skepticism, but at the end of the day, I like it. A little costly, but I like their selection so far. I can only hope they pick some good games to fill the list out and not make this FF7 and friends.
Here’s a look at the trailer.
