It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s casting news for the new Superman movie! Superman: Legacy begins filming next month and we have our band of heroes and a villain. Let’s take a look.
Starting off as the Man of Steel is David Corenswet. Our leading lady as Lois Lane is Rachel Brosnahan. Playing the infamous Lex Luthor is Nicholas Hoult. Rounding out the rest of the cast are Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Maria Gabriela de Faria as The Engineer, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
David Corenswet has been in quite a few films, most notably the horror hit, Pearl from 2022. I’m looking forward to seeing him take on the mantle of Superman and how his performance unfolds. Rachel Brosnahan, however, has had some notable roles, most famously Miriam Maisel in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She’s a perfect fit for Lois, and I can’t wait to see her portrayal of the character. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor is an interesting choice, but a welcome one. He’s no stranger to superhero films, having starred in several X-Men movies as Hank McCoy a.k.a Beast. I’ll be keeping my eye on this. Milly Alcock was great in HBO’s House of the Dragon, and I’m sure she’ll be just as stellar as Supergirl.
The rest of the cast is bound to excel in their roles, especially Nathan Fillion. It’s too soon to tell, but I have high hopes for this production. Will it reach new heights? Will it leap over tall buildings in a single bound? Only time will tell. Superman: Legacy is slated for release in 2025.
