Objectively, there’s something here with Farsiders from GambitGhost Studio; a Thai game development studio founded in 2020. I’m definitely not this game’s biggest fan, but if you’re looking for a realist who’s not afraid to speak their mind, well then, buckle up and let’s dive into what we know so far about Farsiders. While there’s been a lot of buzz around this game, I can’t help but approach it with some skepticism.
On the one hand, it’s impressive that Farsiders managed to fully fund its Kickstarter campaign in under 24 hours, indicating a strong interest from the gaming community. However, as we all know, hype doesn’t always translate into a great game.
One area of concern for me is the combat system. While the ability to use various cards and equipment to vary skills is intriguing, the combat itself looks fairly simple and lacking in depth. Additionally, the pulled-back camera view might be an issue for players who prefer more immersive gameplay.
Another potential problem is the game’s presentation. While the graphics look decent, the overall design seems fairly basic and unremarkable. The sound design is also a concern, as it seems lacking in creativity and detail.
That said, I don’t want to dismiss Farsiders entirely. The game promises an interesting story that introduces players to legendary heroes and historical villains. If executed well, this could be a compelling adventure that keeps players engaged and interested.
The fast-paced and flashy combat, while not particularly deep, could still be a lot of fun. And let’s not forget that the game has managed to generate a lot of hype and interest, which suggests that there’s something about it that’s capturing players’ attention.
Farsiders is set to release on Steam in July or August, with console and mobile releases to follow in October. As someone who’s skeptical but open-minded, I’m curious to see how the game turns out. There are certainly some red flags, but there are also positive factors that could make Farsiders an enjoyable gaming experience.
