Another year, another Evo lineup reveal in the books. This year wasn’t as surprising as the dropping of Melee, but a solid line up nonetheless. Most of the returning games from last year are here; Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Tekken 7, Under Night in-Birth, Samurai Shodown, Soul Calibur 6, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
The big swap of this year is that Mortal Kombat 11 is out in favor of Granblue Fantasy Versus. It was a mildly surprising swap, as I thought it would be Samurai Shodown that got the axe, but I can’t say I’m incredibly surprised. Mortal Kombat 11 is a bit divisive, and Granblue is a new shiny game. Besides that, there is also an eight competitor Marvel vs Capcom 2 Invitational tournament to celebrate the 20th Anniversary with 4 of the slots already secured by past Evo tournament winners. I think that’s pretty cool, honestly. And who could say no to more MvC2? The line up is looking good, UniCLR being my personal focus. But what are you guys looking forward to? What games were you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
