Street Fighter Series Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono resigns from Capcom after working for the company for thirty years. Yoshinori Ono was responsible for the Street Fighter revival with the release of Street Fighter 4 which became a massive hit for the company. However, things took a downward spiral with the Fighting Game division with the release of Street Fighter X Tekken. For years to come, Ono would face the brunt of all criticism for the under-performing games under his helm, including the launch of Street Figther V and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite. He was later removed from working on Street Fighter V. People speculated that Ono would soon leave the company.
Despite a less than stellar performance the in his final years with Capcom, Ono was responsible for creating the Capcom Pro Tour and helping to expand the Fighting Games Community into eSports. I personally got to meet Yoshinori Ono at EVO 2017 and it was a great experience. His passion and love of fighting games is unparalleled. He will be missed dearly.
