Every single year since 2010 I would keep my hopes up that Ubisoft would do the right thing and announce a brand new Prince of Persia game during their E3 conference. Each and every year I am disappointed at the lack of Prince of Persia news. And then to be scammed in 2018 with that trash mobile game, I had given up on the dream. It was obvious that Ubisoft had completely moved on and was focusing on their other franchises; particularly Assassin’s Creed.
Now we have actual footage of a canceled Prince of Persia game titled Redemption which would have been released on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Jonathan Cooper, who is an animation artist who has worked at Naughty Dog and Ubisoft. This canceled project was confirmed by himself in a message, in which he says that this work ended up inspiring Assassin’s Creed 3.
“Wow – haven’t seen this in ages,” says Cooper. “Amazing work from animation director Khai Nguyen (For Honor) and team. This target game footage (pre-rendered game pitch) inspired our own pitch for Assassin’s Creed 3 as they did such a great job making it look like real gameplay.”
It’s such a shame that another beloved franchise had been relegated to mobile phone fodder and inspiration for other games.
What do you guys think of the leaked footage?
