With 150 new enemy types alone got me to thinking this HAD to be new. Part of the fun of Hollow Knight was discovering a new enemy and…probably getting beat up by it for a bit. Then you learn about it and eventually kill it on sight every time. Charms look to be gone in favor of Tools, which seem to do the same sort of things. The only difference seems to be that instead of passive buffs or new abilities, you have specific items for specific tasks. Also, New NPCs! Another part of what made Hallownest so great was the characters you’d meet who helped make this weird world feel lived in…and sometimes weirder. There’s a lot of new content here: new towns, a new skillset to learn, and new salt-inducing bosses.
I knew this would be great, but a whole new game…this coupled with yesterday’s direct? I’m pretty happy. Check out the trailer below. Do yourself that favor today.
