Once again Square Enix has sold us a dream, that dream being that they would continue to support a mobile game based on Final Fantasy 7. And now the dream is dead. Square Enix announced yesterday that they would be ending the quickly created mobile game FInal Fantasy 7 First Soldier this coming January. This is a huge surprise as the game was just released not that long ago. They promised the game would be supportive for quite a while like they’ve done with other mobile titles Brave Exvius, Record Keeper, etc. Most people thought that since the brand for Final Fantasy 7 was extremely strong they would be able to support this game for years to come.
Alas, the game did not perform as well as anticipated. Hopefully this will not be the case for Ever Crisis when it does get release sometime next year. I will hope that Ever Crisis does not share the same fate as First Soldier. Only time will tell exactly how well that game will perform once it’s released.
